Project Coordinator at Diocese of Central Tanganyika (DCT) May 2024
VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Diocese
of Central Tanganyika (DCT) – Dodoma in collaboration with Christoffel-
Blindenmission (CBM), would like to recruit a Project Coordinator to
ensure effective and efficient implementation of the Enhancing Access to
Inclusive Eye Health for Children in Central zone of Tanzania under
department of Ophthalmology – Mvumi Hospital on full time basis.
Contract duration: One (1) year
Responsibilities:
The
following is a list of the major responsibilities of the Project
Coordinator. The responsibilities of the Project Coordinator are not
limited to these points:
- Ensure
effective and efficient implementation of the project in general, in
accordance with the approved project plan and further stipulations of
the project contract between DCT – Mvumi Hospital and Christoffel-
Blindenmission (CBM) - Establish and monitor implementation
schedules and cost plans. Under the supervision of Head of Department of
Eye care unit and in collaboration with other senior financial
personnel, prepare and monitor project budgets and cash flow
projections.
In close collaboration with the related staff from Mvumi Hospital, the Project Coordinator shall fulfill the following duties,
- To
identify and build relationships with key stakeholders and decisions
makers, ensuring their expectations and involvement is effectively
managed. - To communicate effectively and appropriately regarding key messaging about the programme to ensure clear understanding.
- Coordinate
efficient use of the project resources in line with the agreed budget
and agree with CBM on necessary adjustments along the project progress. - To set and manage timelines as per requirement from Christoffel – Blindenmission (CBM)
- Coordinate the efforts of the responsible stakeholders to implement the project activities and reach the project objectives,
- To organize and facilitate workshops to meet their objectives.
- To
create documentation to aid communication on key issues, events,
presentations and reporting in accordance with the donor’s guidelines.
To monitor the trend of activities implementation, identify programme
challenges and spot anomalies and communicate back to project lead and
Christoffel- Blindenmission (CBM) to agree on 
necessary adjustments. - Organize
and coordinate field visits for Christoffel- Blindenmission (CBM)
Tanzania and other 
stakeholders as directed by the senior management of
the hospital. Plan, organize and monitor training and outreach
activities; - Ensure proper monitoring and quality control of the project activities.
- Prepare,
or as appropriate supervise the preparation of progress reports, annual

reports, project completion reports and other reports that may be
required by Christoffel- Blindenmission (CBM) Tanzania within the given
deadlines - Gather communication materials such as pictures in
compliance with Christoffel- Blindenmission (CBM) and donor guidelines
and requirements

Qualifications and Experience:
- Holder
of Bachelor Degree in Project Management, Business
Administration/Management/Social Sciences or its equivalent
qualification from a recognized University/Institution A Master Degree
in the field mentioned above is a definite advantage - Minimum of 5
years’ experience in Project/Programme Management within a reputable
development organization Proven experience in project monitoring and
budget control - Proven competence in project report writing (Narrative and Statistical)
- Experience in procurement of goods and services
- Financial management background as a plus.
Required skills and attributes for Project Coordinator:
The key skills and attributes identified for the role of Project Coordinator, which is essential and desirable:Â
- Able to manage and develop relationships with high level NGO, government and other stakeholders with confidence
- Relevant experience implementing projects in eye health and other public health sectors
- Ability to collaborate with teams in remote locations, communicating efficiently in English and both written and verbally
- Ability to execute planning and change management
- Aptitude for problem solving, good prioritization skills, high organized & focused
- Experience and aptitude to organize and facilitate Stakeholder meetings and 
workshops
- Fully
competent in the use of a computer including essential programmes (MS
Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and access to the internet; 
 - Leadership and team building skills. Strong analytical skills, negotiation skills and problem solving skills;
- Ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels;
- Self-motivated and able to work independently from close supervision;
- Extensive experience in data analysis, evidence gathering and knowledge management
