Lead Engineer at Water Mission Tanzania

Water Mission Tanzania, an affiliate of Water Mission International, is a nonprofit engineering organization that designs, builds, and implements Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) solutions for people in developing countries and disaster areas. Established in Tanzania in 2013, Water Mission Tanzania is growing and now numbers about 40 staff with offices in two locations, the main office in Dar es Salaam and a regional office in Kasulu, Kigoma Region. Our mission is to provide sustainable access to safe water.

Water Mission Tanzania is seeking for a suitable candidate to fill in the position of Lead Engineer with strong Project Management skills to be based in Kasulu with frequent travels to the field.The person in this position must possess a heartfelt passion for our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct engineering field work and design according to established engineering principles and standards to a high degree of excellence and dependable accuracy.
  • Lead the technical department, oversight, review and assistance for technicians, volunteers, and other engineers to ensure quality of output and adherence to established standards.
  • Perform Engineering tasks including water hydraulic design calculations, and development of plans, specifications, and structural drawings.
  • Provide onsite project management in support of approved projects.
  • Conduct field inspections and site assessments as needed to ensure that construction is in accordance with design and expectations.
  • Champion and ensure that Water Mission Tanzania QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards and procedures) is upheld by the technical team.
  • Layout and design of water systems including source, pumping, treatment, storage and distribution.
  • Ensure that your work is reviewed by another engineer as designated by the Country Director.
  • Perform assessments in communities, including water quality and quantity testing, survey measurements and other aspects as may be required.
  • Timely Project reporting, including monthly report, Assessment report, follow up report with accompanied photographs as per specific assignment guideline.
  • Provide disaster response support and work in other countries as needed.
  • Other tasks as may be assigned.

Qualification & Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering – Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical are preferred (Master’s degree desirable, but can be offset with quality experience).
  • Experience of at least 5 to 10 years
  • Registration as a professional engineer in Tanzania
  • Driver’s license
  • Advanced skills with office computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and drafting programs (AutoCAD/PowerCADD,SolidWorks/ProE)
  • Excellent analytical skills, process design skills and project planning and management skills.
  • A level of impeccable integrity and stewardship that demonstrates to those who invest in Water Mission Tanzania a sense of security and trust that their gifts are well used and invested.
  • Must be standards and detail- oriented with ability to plan ahead.
  • Should be willing to travel to remote places including occasional trips abroad.

    -Assist the tracking team in the root cause analysis of reported  issues

    Carry out and certify maintenance on cabin utilities and i.f.e. systems for utmost customer satisfaction and comfort

    Highway Engineer at TANROADS

    Hie Government of the United Republic of Tanzania through Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS), an Agency of the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication has allocated funds in the Financial Year 2019/2020 towards the costs for Upgrading of Musoma-Makojo-Busekela road (92km), Lot 1: Kusenyi-Suguti Section (5km) to bitumen standard. TANROADS Regional Manager, Mara now intends to apply part of the proceeds to cover eligible payments for the short term Contracts for an individual staff Highway Engineer, Material Engineer and Personal Secretary for the supervision of project. The TANROADS is therefore looking for dynamic, motivated, creative and open minded Highway Engineer, Material Engineer and Personal Secretary. The duration of assignment is approximately one year

    TANROADS invites competent, experienced, highly organized and self-motivated to fill three vacant posts mentioned below;

     

    POSITION TITLE: HIGHWAY ENGINEER (1 POST).

    Key qualification for the Highway Engineer:

    Holder of Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University/ Institutions. Postgraduate qualification in Highway Engineering is added advantage;

    Must be registered as a Professional Engineer;

    Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English Languages.

    Must be Tanzanian Citizen.

    Not above 45 years of Age.

    Duties and Responsibilities of Highway Engineer.

    Carry out Supervision of the works contract to ensure that the works comply with the approved design, drawings, specifications, conditions of contract and sound engineering practice;

    Prepare monthly progress report for the Works Contract;

    Monitoring of Contractor’s mobilization progress for staff, equipment and materials and provide appropriate advices when required to facilitate the process;

    Perform routine design review during construction stage and propose appropriate changes when necessary-. All design changes that affect the quality, scope, cost or completion period of the works are subject to prior consultation and approval from the Project Manager;

    Inspecting, testing and approving all materials and completed works to ensure compliance with technical and standard specifications requirements;

    Keeping updated all records including reports, works diaries, correspondence, instructions given to contractor, test records, measurement and quantity calculations, payment records and all other relevant documents pertaining to the works operations and supervision contracts;

    Monitoring the implementation of Environmental policy and code of conducts for Environmental, Social Health and Safety during the construction of the works;

    Monitoring the implementation of road safety measures dining construction of works.

    Measuring quantities of approved works and certify monthly and final payment certificates for consideration by the Employer.

    To perform such other related duties as may be assigned by Project Manager.

    EXPERIENCE

    She/he must have a minimum of (5) years of cumulative experience related to road/bridge design and Construction. She/he must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) years for Construction of bituminous roads of similar magnitude and complexity in the last 5 years.

    Manager – Engineering and Asset Management at GGM

    Key areas of accountability for the role include:

    Overall Engineering Discipline:

    This role is accountable to provide management support in terms of the overall engineering and management function across the site

    To serve as liaison and first point of contact for engineering and asset management in terms of implementation of strategies and initiatives from both the region and corporate teams.

    To ensure that all areas of engineering and asset management are staffed by suitable qualified and experience persons and that health of discipline is managed across the site.

    To liaise with external stakeholders and suppliers thereby ensuring that stakeholder expectations are managed and or complied with

    An oil distribution company is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position Lubes Marketing & Technical Services Engineer based in Dar es Salaam.
    THE POSITION
    The holder of this position will be expected to Plan and implement effective pre and after sales technical services support to Company’s marketing activities covering all range of lubricants to enhance customers satisfaction and confidence level to ensure technical competitiveness in the market place. .

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Carry out frequent business surveys to ensure the company has adequate lubes range in the market,
    • To recruit Lubricants customers in line with Company Processes and procedures
    • Prepare lubes equivalent charts and carry out lubrication surveys to ensure all customers use right lubricants,
    • To Carry out marketing intelligence from other Lubes players and analyze customer integrity and risks associ­ated with lubes business, To support customers on oil and equipment condition monitoring
    • To work with lubes team to prepare/review lubes prices & budgets and sales forecasts,
    • Ensure the company has adequate product range (grades and packages) in the business area,
    • Ensure customers apply right lubricants, Prepare lubes equivalent to new customers and carry out lubrication surveys.
    • Ensure data sheets are available, correct and interpret the same to the customers,
    • To support customers and solve lubes related issues including condition monitoring,
    • Work with sales team to prepare budgets and sales forecasts. Carry out promotion activities as directed from time to time.
    • To identify the gap between the current product range and actual market requirement and fill the gaps,
    • To develop and maintain very good relationships with customers, partners and the sales team,
    • To monitor the customer satisfaction regarding quality of products and services and solve/report immediately any issues that may compromise quality of products and services.

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
    • BSc (Eng) in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering
    • Detailed understanding of petroleum products, market and logistics.
    • Knowledge on lubes application points (equipment) and Exposure on sales and marketing procedures
    • Product knowledge (lubes)
    • 4-5 years’ experience

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    iv.One year working experience in a related field.
