About the role
The
Project Officer Youth Engagement will lead the planning, coordination,
and implementation of activities across eight councils, working closely
with the project team and government stakeholders to ensure the timely
and effective achievement of project objectives. This role will be
pivotal in enhancing the delivery of sexual and reproductive health,
nutrition, and gender-based violence prevention and response services to
adolescents.
The Project Officer Youth Engagement will oversee
adolescent engagement activities that align with the project’s
gender-responsive, multi-sectoral approach, driving increased
community-level uptake of these services. The
position involves direct engagement with one council and supervision of
Council Coordinators across the remaining councils, ensuring quality
implementation and timely, accurate reporting. To enable close
coordination with local government officials and stakeholders, the role
will be based within one of the BRIGHT project implementation councils.
Responsibilities:
- Provide
leadership, coordination, and oversight of Council Coordinators to
ensure effective implementation of BRIGHT project activities across all
assigned councils. - Conduct regular performance check-ins, offer
coaching and mentorship, and ensure Council Coordinators have access to
the necessary tools, information, and technical support. - Lead the design, planning, and implementation of adolescent and youth engagement strategies.
- Ensure
meaningful participation of adolescents and youth in project
activities, and promote access to integrated, adolescent-friendly health
and social services. - Coordinate closely with the BRIGHT
Nutrition Project Officer, ASRH and Gender Advisors, and the MEAL team
to implement activities at the council level. - Conduct regular field visits to provide technical support and supervision.
- Provide
ongoing mentorship and guidance to adolescent champions in each
council, supporting their leadership in mobilizing and engaging peers
within their communities - Collaborate with the BRIGHT MEAL
Officer and implementing partners to execute the project’s Monitoring,
Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) plans. - Support
the development and functionality of survey tools and systems for
collecting high-quality data to regularly monitor SRH and nutrition
interventions. - Contribute to the development of timely,
high-quality annual and semi-annual progress reports that align with
donor requirements.

About You;
You have;
- Bachelor’s
degree from a recognized university in one or more of the following
areas: nutrition, nursing, health/social sciences and public health. - At
least five years working in adolescent and women’s health and
nutrition, with a strong focus on increasing service uptake through
effective engagement strategies. - At least four years of experience working with NGOs/International NGOs in public health and nutrition programming.
- Good knowledge of government policies and initiatives related to health, nutrition, and sexual and reproductive health.
- Proficient in national health information systems (DHIS2) and familiar with reporting tools such as MTUHA.
- Skilled in training, mentorship, and providing support to R/CHMTs and health facility staff.
- Excellent skills in community mobilization, advocacy, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
- A collaborative team player with a strategic mindset, strong communication skills, and a proactive, self-starting approach
