Tanzania National Road Agency (TANROADS)
is an Agency under the Ministry of Works and Transport which is
responsible for the Development and Maintenance of Trunk and Regional
Roads Network together with Airports in Tanzania Mainland. It is also
responsible for conducting Axle Load Control Operations using
Weighbridge Scales. The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) –
Singida for and on behalf of the Government of the United Republic of
Tanzania entered into a Contract for the Upgrading of Makongorosi –
Rungwa – Itigi – Mkiwa (413km) to Bitumen Standard; Lot 7(A): Noranga –
Itigi (Mlongoji) Section (25km)..
TTo facilitate execution of
this project and strengthening of its capacity of discharging its
functions effectively, the Regional Manager – TANROADS Singida seeks to
recruit qualified and competent Tanzanian citizens to fill various
vacant posts on contracts bases within the Region including weighbridge
staff. Apart from professional qualifications requirements outlined in
the positions, candidates to compete for the positions must be
trustworthy, responsible, reliable, accountable and with degree of
integrity..

POSITION TITTLE: TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEYOR (1 POST)
The Topographical Surveyor shall be fully responsible for
- conducting
and supervising the survey team. He/she will be responsible for
planning of the fieldwork, select known survey reference points, and
determine the precise location of important features in the survey area.
He/she shall be responsible for searching legal records, look for
evidence of previous references survey points (geodetic reference points
and national bench marks) and analyse the data to determine the
location of boundary lines and record the results of the survey, verify
the accuracy of data, and prepare plans, maps and reports.
The Topographical Surveyor shall be
- a
holder of Degree/Advance Diploma in Land Surveying or equivalent.
He/she must be registered as a Land Surveyor. He/she must have at least
six (6) years of cumulative experience related to Land surveying
activities. He/she must have served as a Topographical Surveyor on at
least two (2) projects of similar magnitude and complexity within the
last 6 years. Knowledge in computer applications and fluency in written
and spoken English are mandatory; and Age limit is not above 53 years.
POSITION TITLE: WEIGHBRIDGE CASHIER (1 POST)
Weighbridge Cashier shall
- conduct
his/her duties at the weighbridge as per the road traffic (Maximum
Weigh of Vehicles) Regulations, 2001; He/She shall Collect and bank all
weighbridge charges (fees) according to weighbridge report form; He/ She
shall Seek current USD exchange rates issued by Bank of Tanzania for
case of imposing charges that are equivalent to Tanzania Shilling and
keep exchange rate records; He/ She shall timely fill all necessary
records and keep register area neat; He/ She shall Report all maters to
the shift in-charge; He/She shall undertake bank reconciliation; and He/
She shall performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time
by the shift in charge and/or Regional Manager.

Weighbridge Cashier shall be
- a
Holder of Diploma in Accountancy; He/She shall be a Computer literate
(at least Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized
institution); fluency in written and spoken English are mandatory and
Age limit not above 35 years.
POSITION TITTLE: DRAINAGE INSPECTOR (1 POST)
- He/she
shall inspect and approve all materials and completed works to ensure
compliance with technical specification requirements; - He/she
shall Keep all records including reports, works diaries, correspondence,
instructions given to contractors, and any other matter relating to
drainage structures on day to day basis; He shall measure quantities of
drainage works satisfactorily carried out on daily basis; He/she shall
prepare and submit mini progress report with updated cost of drainage
workman daily basis; and maintain site diary on a daily basis with the
contents and format to be agreed with Employer.
Drainage Inspector shall be
- a
holder of in Civil Engineering or equivalent from any recognized Higher
Learning Institution/college; He/She shall be Registered as
Graduate/Professional Engineer with ERB; At least 3 years’ cumulative
experience related to bridge/drainage design and construction; He/ She
shall be self-motivated and able to work under pressure outside working
hours with minimum supervision; Knowledge in computer applications and
fluency in written and spoken English are mandatory; and Age limit is
not above 40 years.
POSITION TITLE: OFFICE ASSISTANT (1 POST)
Office Assistant shall be responsible for:
- Cleaning
offices, washrooms and office premises, He/ She shall prepare and serve
tea, coffee and refreshments; He/She shall Move files and documents as
directed; He She shall undertake photocopying/ or binding of documents
and Dispatching letters or parcels; and perform such other related
duties as may be assigned by senior staff.

Office Assistant shall be:
- a
Holder of Ordinary Secondary Education; He/She shall be fluent in
Kiswahili language both in writing and speaking and shall have basic
knowledge of English language; and Age limit is not above 35 years.
POSITION TITTLE: MATERIALS TECHNICIAN (1 POST)
He/she
shall inspect and measure materials to ensure they meet structural
requirements; He/ She shall carry out in-situ testing and take samples;
He/She shall Maintain laboratory apparatus and equipment; He/ She shall
collect and prepare samples for laboratory tests; He/ She shall
undertake laboratory tests and monitor tests results and trends and
performing other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
The Materials Technician shall be:
- a
holder of Bachelor degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering or
Diploma in Civil Engineering. He/she must have at least three (3) years
of cumulative experience related to materials testing. He/she must have
served as a Materials Technician on at least two (2) projects of similar
magnitude and complexity within the last 6 years. Knowledge in computer
applications and fluency in written and spoken English are mandatory;
and Age limit is not above 40 years.

POSITION TITTLE: WORKS INSPECTOR (1 POST)
Works inspector shall be:
- responsible
for Keeping, monitoring and follow up as necessary and maintain
complete record(s) concerning the execution of the works; - He/she
shall Inspect the work done by the contractor to ascertain that work is
executed in accordance with the Contract Documents and acceptable
practise; He She shall inspect the on-site and off-site materials to be
used in the project and organize field and laboratory tests, on
construction materials to ascertain their compliance with the
specifications and determine it acceptability for use on the project.
Identify potential safety concerns and inform the contractor and
Implement the site supervision quality procedures
The Works Inspector shall be:
- a
holder of Bachelor degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering or
Diploma in Civil Engineering. He/she must have at least two (2) years of
cumulative experience related to works supervision. He/she must have
served as a Works Inspector on at least three (3) projects of similar
magnitude and complexity within the last 6 years. Knowledge in computer
applications and fluency in written and spoken English are mandatory;
and Age limit is not above 53 years.
POSITION TITTLE: MATERIALS ENGINEER (1 POST)
- The
Materials Engineer shall be responsible for conducting and supervising
the materials investigation with a view to achieving optimal design and
construction strategy - He/she shall carry out the pavement design
and should be conversant with current practice in testing and pavement
construction techniques. - He/she must be a registered
professional Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or
equivalent qualification. A postgraduate qualification in geotechnical
or pavement engineering is an added advantage.
He/she must demonstrate the following qualification:
- possess
five (5) years of cumulative experience related to materials testing,
soils investigation and pavement design and construction of roads and
bridges; served in similar capacity in at least two (2) assignments of
similar nature in the last 6 years. Additional years/assignments will be
an added advantage. Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory;
and Age limit is not above 53 years.
