THE GOVERNMENT has spent more than shs. 6.318 billion for the construction of projects in various villages of Mkalama district, Singida region to alleviate the suffering of clean water for its citizens.

yesterday (Tuesday, September 15, 2020) and Member of the Central Committee of the National Executive Council of the Revolutionary Party (CCM) and Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa while addressing the people who attended a meeting to nominate CCM parliamentary and councilorship candidates held at the Gumanga bus stand, Mkalama district.
Mr. Majaliwa who was in Singida region to pray for the presidential candidate for the CCM ticket, Dr. John Pombe Magufuli, said the fifth phase government has built more than 1,490 strategic projects in the water sector across the country.
Explaining some of the projects carried out over the course of the year 2015/2016 and 2019/2020, Mr. Majaliwa said among the funds, shs. 1.37 billion has been spent on water projects in Mughano, Ngimu, Mgori, Malolo, Kijota, Ghaluyangu and Mangida villages.
“Other projects are the Mwankoko ‘B’ village water project which has cost 656 million shillings, and the Kisaki village water project which has cost 551 million shillings. Also, 428 million shillings has been used for the Gumanga village water supply project and 910 million shillings has been spent on a water supply project in Nyahaa village, ”he said.
Elaborating further, Mr. Majaliwa said shs. 341 million has been used for the project of drilling seven deep wells in Nduguti, Kisuluiga, Matongo, Ipuli, Mkiko, Mwanga, Wangeza, Kinampundu, Kinyangiri, Primary, Senene, Milade, Mbigigi, Nduguti (two wells), Tumuli ( one well) and Ibaga (one well).
He said shs. 158 million has been spent for the water improvement project in Nduguti village and shs. 70 million has been spent on water improvement in Kinyangiri village.
In addition to all these efforts, Mr. Majaliwa said shs. 1.37 billion has been spent on the water project for 10 villages of Ibaga, Lyelembo, Mpambala, Ikolo, Kinyambuli, Ipuli, Makuro, Donimic, Ishinsi Nkalalala and Lukomo.
At the same time, Mr. Majaliwa said sh. 235.98 million has been spent on drilling wells deep and shallow wells 20 including the installation of hand pumps.
He said another amount of shs. 144 million has been spent for the expansion of the Mntamba village water project and shs. another 85 million has been spent on the rehabilitation of the Ipuri village water project.
