The Chairman of the Revolutionary Party (CCM) and the Presidential Candidate in this year’s General Election for the party’s ticket Dr. John Magufuli has described in detail the progress that has been made in Kagera Region while using the opportunity to talk about the existing energy strategy that has been cut short. at times in the region.

Speaking in front of thousands of people in Kagera Region today September 16, 2020 during his campaign rally to seek re-election for another five years, he said that in the past five years much work has been done to improve the energy sector. of electricity.

“Electricity villages have increased from 168 in 2015 to 541 villages and Kagera has 664 villages, so there are still 123 villages to get electricity. If you give us another five years, the first three years the remaining villages will all have electricity.

“In Tanzania we will grow enough electricity and especially after the completion of the Julius Nyerere dam which will feed 2115 megawatts. ,

“There are many electricity projects in various areas including the Rusumo water project that is under construction which will generate 80 megawatts. There are still other projects in Kinyerezi ii, and Kinyerezi i. We will also use gas electricity. So I want to assure my brothers we will have 5000 megawatts of electricity.

“So the issue of electricity will be a certainty, we will no longer rely on the electricity of neighboring Kagera here. We believe if we have enough electricity the issue of power outages in industry will be history,” said Dr. Magufuli.

Regarding the health sector, Dr. Magufuli said in Kagera Region four District Hospitals have been built at a cost of Shs. 5.9 billion, the number of surgical centers is now 21, 10 dispensaries and another 16 are completed on time for the medicine budget for Kagera Region has increased from Shs. 2.3 billion to Shs. 8.6 billion for medicines and medical equipment. 10 ambulances have been procured and these are just some of what has been done for five years.

In terms of water, Dr. Magufuli said there are billions of money spent on successful water projects including 154 projects implemented as well as water projects worth Shs. 5071 billion. While Shs.59 billion for water in urban areas including the Bukoba urban water project which will cost Shs.52 billion.

At the same time, he spoke about a project to build an oil pipeline from Uganda to Tanga, which is also going to open up economic opportunities. “The pipeline will pass through Kagera and seven other regions. “This pipeline could have passed, we struggled to get it through here,” said Dr. Magufuli.
