Nafasi ya kazi Ifakara health institute (IHI), Clinical Officer

Position: Clinical Officer – Ifakara (1 post)

The Institute runs a research platform in collaboration with St. Francis Referral Hospital (SFRH) and governmental authorities, the Kilombero and Ulanga Antiretroviral Cohort (KIULARCO). The Clinical Officer will be required to evaluate, diagnose, attend patients with HIV and or Tuberculosis in the in- and outpatient facilities at St. Francis Referral Hospital (SFRH) to deliver improved services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend people living with HIV and/or tuberculosis according to National Guidelines for Clinical Management of HIV/AIDS and TB, Standard Treatment Guidelines and Local guidelines.
  • Diagnose and treat opportunistic infections (OI) and/or referral to appropriate departments.
  • Maintain proper patient documentation, filling of electronic case report forms (CRF) within KIULARCO and paper forms according to government guidelines, including CTC 1/2, STI and TB screening tool.
  • Maintain patient information for KIULARCO and ongoing clinical studies.
  • Filling information into data system (paper and electronic).
  • Working in full agreement with the job descriptions, CDCI, hospital and government (MOHSW) regulations.
  • Attend all compulsory meetings as per schedule provided by project.
  • Contribution in planning, coordination and performance of research activities/studies organized by IHI.
  • Perform any other duties as instructed by supervisors.

The Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) is funding a focussed research aimed at the design and development of an effective yet cheap and potable rock-phosphate-based biofertilizer for direct application to farmers’ fields. The project is based at the Department of Soil and Geological Sciences (DSGS) but qualified applicants can register in either of the three departments namely the DSGS, Department of Engineering Sciences and Technology (DEST) or Department of Food Technology, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences (DFTNCS).

Scholarship Announcement: Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership

Introduction
UONGOZI Institute invites applications for a partially-funded one-year Executive Programme, Postgraduate Diploma in Leadershipfrom Tanzanian Senior Leaders in the Public, Private and Civil Society Organisations. The Programme, undertaken in collaboration with Aalto University Executive Education of Finland (Aalto EE), includes 10 modules that are run over the course of one year. It aims to develop leadership competencies in three areas; Making Strategic Choices, Leading People and Other Resources and Excelling in Personal Leadership Qualities.
Facilitated by world-class professors and experts in leadership from around the world, the Programme is designed to encourage participants to challenge their thinking as they broaden their competencies in visioning, planning and inspiring others through advanced strategic communication. It aims to motivate participants to become better designers and innovators of effective structures and systems for better results.
The Programme is designed for leaders who want to propel their professional development without putting their careers on hold. Each module runs for one month, consisting of 2-3 days in-class workshops and online individual or group assignments.
Programme Requirements
Completion of the Programme requires attending all modules and completing several written pre- and post-assignments and four graded exams. On successful completion, candidates will earn 18 European credits; all of which are transferrable to the Aalto EE Executive MBA Programme or Aalto EE MBA Programme.
Scholarship Coverage
The tuition fee for the Programme is EUR 8,000. This scholarship covers:

Qualifications and Experience:
Applicants for:
Assistant Lecturer must possess a minimum GPA of 4.0 or a B+ average at Master’s degree level and an undergraduate degree with an overall GPA of 3.8 or higher. They must be potentially good academically.
Tutorial Assistant must possess a Bachelor degree with a minimum GPA of 3.8.
Main Duties for:
Tutorial Assistants:

  • Under-studies senior members of academic staff by attending their lectures, seminars, tutorials and practicals;
  • Carries out seminars, tutorials and practicals;
  • Assists in research, consultancy and public service;
  • Performs any other relevant duties assigned by one’s superior; and
  • Undergoes postgraduate training for the master’s degree.

Assistant Lecturers:

  • Carries out lectures, seminars, tutorials and practicals for undergraduate programmes;
  • Sets, invigilates and marks undergraduate examinations;
  • Assists senior staff in lectures, seminars, tutorials, and practicals for postgraduate programmes;
  • Supervises projects and practical training for undergraduate students;
  • Conducts research and publishes results;
  • Carries out consultancy and public service;
  • Undergoes postgraduate training to PhD level;
  • Participates in relevant workshops and conferences; and
  • Performs any other relevant duties assigned by one’s superior.
