The Trustees is looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of Headmaster at PUNCHMI English Medium Primary School, The School is located in Karansi Village, Karansi Ward, Siha District, Kilimanjaro Region in the same Campus with the Trustee.

At the heart of PUNCHMI is a Tanzanian English-Medium Primary School of excellence. All of the students are from the rural poor living in the local community.

Responsibilities

Candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Education.
  • At least 3 years’ history of effective organizational management and leadership.
  • At least 3 years’ history of developing leaders and building effective teams.
  • An ability to set goals and accomplish them on time.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Swahili and English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to interact and work well with teachers, students, administrators and parents.

Candidate must be:

  • A Tanzanian citizen
  • A born-again Christian of the highest integrity.
  • Willing to work in a rural area.
  • A servant leader.
  • Able to build a high-performing team.
  • Creative, innovative and self-motivated.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • The position reports directly to the Managing Director.
  • Communicate the vision of the school to the board, partners, administration, faculty, parents and students of the school.
  • Oversee the implementation of the long-term strategic planning of the school.
  • Create a culture of discipline and excellence, driven by high standards for all teachers and students.
  • Ensue that the school timetable is strictly followed.
  • Develop a cooperative partnership between the school and the students’ parents.
  • Develop an open and welcoming climate at the school which makes all who visit the school feel welcomed.
  • Manage income, resources and expenditures in compliance with the approved academic budget.
  • Develop and execute a plan to recruit and hire great teachers.
  • Develop a professional community of teachers who guide one another in improving instruction by overseeing the assignment, evaluation, training, encouragement, discipline and inspiration of the teaching staff.
  • Make sure student needs are met by working with faculty to determine students’ needs and by making sure that policies are in place to meet those needs, resulting in positive learning experience for all students.
  • Monitor cultural trends in the school—correcting negative trends and inspiring positive cultural growth—by consistently being involved in the life of the school as an observer and participant, resulting in a godly culture.
  • Direct curriculum development by envisioning the faculty of the school, resulting in the use of the best curriculum available.
  • Discover best practices in the broader academic community and tailor them to the school’s unique needs.
  • Oversee and guide the development of the standards and policies of the school.
  • Oversee student recruitment.
  • Provide a detailed monthly report to the Managing Director on the progress and activities of the school.
  • To perform any other work as assigned by the Managing Director.

Participate in the Urban Innovation Challenge “Citypreneurs” to achieve UN’s Sustainable Development Goals

Urban Innovation Challenge, also known as “Citypreneurs” is inviting young people for the SDGs startup competition in Seoul for prospective entrepreneurs from around the world interested in solving urban issues in Seoul and achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Participants will apply for one of the two distinct tracks: the Seed Track and the Growth track. The Seed Track is designed for early-stage startups looking for validation of their ventures. These startups have much more flexibility to focus on urban issues specifically identified by partnering Seoul City agencies. Startups of three or more years and market-tested prototypes will participate and pitch on the Growth Track.

US Study Abroad Engagement Grant

Do you host or work with American study abroad students? The U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam is seeking individual and collaborative proposals for up to $15,000 to support new and innovative short-term programs that advance one or more of the following outcomes and goals:
  1. Building institutional capacity to enable Tanzanian colleges and universities to host more U.S. students, interns, researchers, and/or teachers;
  2. Increasing engagement with diverse American students studying, interning, researching, and/or teaching in Tanzania;
  3. Strengthening diverse U.S. college and university relationships with Tanzanian higher education institutions, businesses, and/or regional organizations to foster academic and internship experiences abroad for U.S. students, institutional partnerships for two-way student mobility, and/or the sharing of institutional resources and best practices in student exchange;
  4. Promoting American student mobility to Tanzania;
  5. Establishing a consortium of host institutions and organizations receiving the greatest number of the U.S. students in Tanzania.
Proposal Submission Deadline and Instructions:
A. Project Title (no more than 20 words)
B. Description of organization (no more than 100 words)
Describe the organization seeking public diplomacy funding. Provide information including, but not limited to: name, location, and number of employees, how long the organization has been working in Tanzania, and previous experience with public diplomacy or other U.S. government funding.
C. Project Summary (no more than 100 words)
Provide a brief summary of the proposed project.
D. Problem Definition (no more than 200 words)
Define the specific problem in Tanzania the proposal seeks to address. Begin with a one-sentence summary of the problem, then explain the problem in detail, including its impact on Tanzania. If available, include supporting evidence or data such as research findings, reports, and statistics that support your problem definition.
E. Primary Target Audience (no more 200 words)
Identify the specific group of people the proposed project seeks to influence. If possible, include information about the primary target audience such as: number of people, age, gender, socioeconomic status, and geographic location.
F. Objective for the Primary Target Audience (no more than 200 words)
Describe the single action the project seeks to get the primary target audience to do. The objective must be measurable and achievable during the project timeframe. General objectives such as “awareness,” “knowledge,” or “understanding” are very difficult to measure.
G. Activity (no more than 200 words)
Describe the activity or activities through which the proposal will encourage the achievement of the objective by the primary target audience.
H. Public and Private Partners
List all partners involved in the proposed project and any financial or in-kind support they will provide.
I. Performance Period (May not exceed 12 months)
What is the timeframe the project? If possible, identify project milestones.
J. Budget
Provide a detailed breakdown of line items of the proposed project, as well as subtotals and overall budget cost. Itemize line items by categories such as travel, supplies, etc. Also include financial and in-kind contributions from public and private partners. All line items must clearly support the achievement of the objective.

TEACHING INTERNSHIP WITH BOARDING PARENT ROLE
St Constantine’s International School is seeking male Intern Teachers with a boarding parent role (to help in the running of our boarding house). This position is available for Tanzania nationals only.
We are looking for qualified teachers in the following subjects:-

Our boarding house provides a home to around 75 students; half boys, half girls. Around a quarter of that number are in Primary. Boarding parent duties include: getting students up and breakfasted in the morning and making sure they are presentable when leaving for school. At the other end of the day, you would help with prep. (homework), recreational activities (sports, games, cards, pool etc),dinner supervision and settling in at night.
